1. Working hours
Daily: 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

2. Day off and the hours (needs to be 24 hrs)
Sundays – day off from 0:01 a.m. till 23:59 p.m.

3. Open communication
If something happens like something is broken or you feel uncomfortable, come to discuss it with us.

4. Key- and safety-related matters
You have your own key, make sure to lock all doors.

5. Mobile phone usage
 Mobile phone can be used during breaks, for emergencies and after work.

6. Bringing friends over

We don’t want you to have any parties or have friends over when we are away

7. Sleeping out
If you want to sleep out, let us know at least 6 hours in advance. You will have to be back the next morning for duty.

8. Loaning and borrowing money
You should not borrow, loan or lend money. If you have financial difficulties discuss this with us first.

8. No use of home phone or computer.

9. Mobile phone not to be used during working hours or when with the babies.

10. Washing Machine only to be used for your clothing, not your friends.

11. No loaning, lending or borrowing of money or advances of salary.

12. If something is broken or not working, tell us immediately so we can replace/repair. 

13. If you are uncomfortable in the house, need anything or have questions – tell us or ask.

Keep your room clean and neat. No food allowed in the room. 

Please have your meals at the kitchen 

  • You have to shower every day and brush your teeth at least twice a day. Change your clothes whenever it’s dirty, and make sure you have no body odor at all times as you have to take care of the baby. Do not use deodorant with smell.
  • You must always keep your finger and toenails short and clean.
  • Always wash your hands with hand soap after using the toilet, after doing your chores, after eating, when we come home from outside, before cooking, before preparing feeding and before taking care of the baby.
  • NEVER keep the baby out of your sight when you and the baby at home or go outside.
  • You cannot use any of the stuffs in the bathroom and the cosmetics in our bedroom. There are only for our own use and our guests. You are only allowed to use hand soap and toilet paper in the bathroom.
  • You cannot watch TV, play computer, read book or the newspaper when you are supposed to be doing your work or taking care of the baby. You can read our books if you have time, especially baby books or cook books. Do not turn on the TV/air con on your own, especially when you are alone in the house. You can read, write, or just rest after you have finished your chores.
  • You must always be honest and tell the truth. Please do not lie to us about anything. If we find out you lied about anything, we cannot trust you anymore.

     

    • You must NEVER steal anything—clothes, things, money or food from us or anyone else. If you steal, we will send you to the police and you will GO TO JAIL. You will also not be able to come back to Hong Kong to work FOREVER.
  • Monthly periods – regularly wash herself and change sanitary pads. These pads should be properly wrapped up and disposed in covered bins.
  • 7. Her bedroom should be swept daily, always kept clean and tidy.

    Bed sheets should be changed on 1st and 15th day of the month (some employers prefer weekly change).

Money-related issues

1. Monthly salary & food allowance
Your starting salary is HK$ XX with a food allowance of HK$ XX. We will review this regularly if necessary.

2. Health insurance
We have bought you a basic health insurance and dental care with X Company.

3. Grocery shopping/market
We will give you money for shopping and household goods on every Monday. Keep all the receipts and write down all your expenses in the book/app provided by us. If you go to the market, we trust that you do not keep change for yourself. Every Sunday we will go over the finances and any change should be returned. In case you need more money, just let us know.

4. Other costs
If you need money for anything, please let us know.

Tasks

1. Brands
Please buy the brands we prefer. If you are not sure you can take pictures of our preferred brands. In case our brand is out of stock, you can buy it later.

2. Cleaning
Please follow the general cleaning schedule (attached). In the cleaning schedule outline what has to be done daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly.

3. Laundry
Make sure to separate the laundry by baby clothes (no fabric softener), color and fabric. Use the dryer only for sheets and towels. Please iron the clothes as specified.

Leave

1. Sick leave
We will pay your sickness allowance based on the legal recommendations of the Labour Department. The paid sickness days are accumulated at a rate of two paid sickness days for each completed month of service for the first 12 month, thereafter four paid sickness days. The daily rate of sickness allowance is equal to four-fifths of the average daily wages of the helper.

2. Annual leave
You are entitled to paid annual leave after serving every period of 12 months with us. We will increase it progressively based on the Labour Department’s regulations. We will discuss when to take the annual leave together.

3. Statutory holidays
You are entitled to 12 statutory holidays annually. After you have been with us for three months, we will pay you the holiday pay as per Hong Kong law.

4. Emergency leave
If you need to return to your home country for an emergency (e.g. parent’s illness, family death etc.), you should come to us to discuss the arrangements.

You can make the basic house rules for domestic helpers as detailed and specific as possible, but try and keep it as simple as possible so your helper doesn’t get confused.

 

EVERY DAY:

Vacuum every day

Clean the bathrooms and toilets (wipe the wall and windows after shower) 

Clean the Kitchen

Check the plants to see if they need water

Take a trash out 

EVERY WEEK:

Monday - Wash the towels

Monday – Make baby food


Tuesday – Dust the shelves 

Tuesday – Wash Baby Sheets and Bed Toys


Wednesday – Clean the balcony and balcony doors

Wednesday -– Make baby food


Thursday – Change the sheets on the bed and wash the sheets

Thursday - Change water in all vases and wash the vases too


Friday - Clean under and behind the bed, sofas, desks, dressers, book shelves, tables, etc…under the carpets, etc… 

Friday – Wash Baby Sheets and Bed Toys

Friday – Make baby food
Wipe the floor with water spray 


AS REQUIRED:

Detergent: 

For Adults: The white box of Persil, only half a ‘scoop’, Cold Wash (MIN)

For Baby: The blue box of Persil Non Bio, only half a ‘scoop’, 30 Degrees

NO fabric softener for Baby



Lay flat to dry for delicate clothing – underwear, bras, certain shirts, I will show you

Hang to dry – baby clothing, nappies – okay to put drying rack outside in garden

Iron and put away – use plastic hanger for clothes

Husband's trousers – put a crease in the front

Wife's trousers and all Jeans –do not crease


Do NOT iron: sheets, towels, baby clothing, underwear, elastic in any clothing (my maternity trousers have elastic at the waist, please do not iron that section)

Dry Cleaning – we will leave for you in a bag with money to pre-pay.

When the dry cleaning is returned – please take out of plastic bags and hang up in closet using plastic hangers.
